Yiddish, a language of the Jews, has a flavour all of its own. Rooted in Eastern Europe with close ties to the German tongue, it continues to influence the world of music through its living traditions of theatrical, folk and art song. Its vibrant rhythms and captivating melodies, along with compelling tales of life and love, creates song that enraptures the listener. Moving Tone, in association with the Jewish Music Institute (SOAS) is delighted to present a day of workshops with Hilda Bronstein - one of Europe's leading interpreters of Yiddish song.
- Song workshop: 10 am - 12 midday (£15/£10 concessions)
Join us to learn some Yiddish songs, and explore the intriguing stories behind them. Complete beginners welcome - no previous knowledge of Yiddish, or singing, required! [places still available]
- Masterclass: 2 pm - 4 pm (£25/£20 concessions)
