    Cambridge University Baroque Ensemble and Fitzwilliam Chamber Opera have three remaining vacancies – one alto, one tenor and one bass - for their fully-staged production of Monteverdi’s 'Orfeo' at the ADC Theatre, 27th-31st January 2009. For details see http://orfeo.cambridge.googlepages.com/

    This ambitious production will feature a large period-instrument orchestra and offer cast members the opportunity to work alongside a professional team of leading Cambridge early music specialists. Performed in English, 'Orfeo' will feature a new, specially-prepared singing translation; rehearsals will take place steadily throughout the Michaelmas and early Lent terms, with a short intensive rehearsal period before term starts in January.

    The core production team is:

    Musical Director - Francis Knights (fk240), Director of Music, Fitzwilliam College;
    Assistant Musical Director – Dr Dan Tidhar (dut20);
    Orchestra Leader – Dr David Irving (drmi2);
    Stage Director - Claire V.S. Pike (cvsp2);
    Producer - Robert Nimmo (rn269)

    If you are interested in auditioning please email fk240@cam.ac.uk by Tuesday 14 October, indicating your voice type and possible daytime and evening audition times for the week beginning 13 October.

    There will be separate calls for Instrumentalists, Dancers and Production Team shortly, but anyone potentially interested in such performing or back-stage roles is welcome to get in touch now. The orchestra will consist of continuo (harpsichords, organ, lutes, harp), strings, wind/brass (recorders, cornetts, trombones) and percussion.
