NEW CHAMBER CHOIR
(to be known as Cambridge University Consort of Voices)

12-16 voice vocal ensemble
for solo singers who are proficient sight readers

directed by Tim Brown (Clare) and Martin Ennis (Girton)
with assistant conductors for each project

*****

There will be three projects during the academic year 2010–11

Michaelmas Term

German partsongs: music for voices and piano by Schubert and Brahms, including the Liebeslieder Waltzes

Lent Term

Bach B minor Mass (dir. Martin Ennis), for which the
ensemble will be augmented by other singers

Easter Term

French vocal music: Debussy, Ravel and Poulenc

*****

Programmes will include solo music for piano and voice

The intention is to bring together solo singers who would like to explore the vocal ensemble repertoire in depth, with professional language coaching in French and German. There will be solo opportunities within each programme. Rehearsals will take place on a weekly basis (probably Monday 5.30-7.00p.m. or Thursday 8.00-9.30p.m., subject to mutual agreement). Assuming sufficient interest, auditions will be held within the first ten days of term.

Any singers, pianists, or potential assistant conductors (who will have an opportunity to conduct in concerts 1 and 3), should in the first instance write immediately to Tim Brown, on <tcb21@cam.ac.uk>.
