The Cambridge Inter-faith Programme needs a pianist and a cellist for an event on the evening of 20th July.

A new piece has been written by the Israeli composer Oded Zehavi for a conference we are holding that week at Madingley Hall. This will be the first public performance of the piece, to an audience of about 90 people.

The piece is called Psalm 42 for Piano and Cello, and we will be receiving the sheet music in the next day or two. The piece is quite short: no more than a few minutes long. We can offer the pianist and the cellist an honorarium of £250 each, an invitation to the dinner at Madingley Hall that evening (along with the composer), and our undying gratitude!

Please contact Mike Higton on mah18@cam.ac.uk, (7)63015 (office), 07879 116896 (mobile).

Hello,

I am musician based in Cambridge who requires a string quartet to play the string arrangements for my current album project. I am signed to a couple of small independent labels including Siltbreeze Records based in the US. I have some budget set aside for this element of the recording so I am able to pay for the session. It would be advantageous to have musicians who are interested in recording on non-classical material, and who perhaps might like some recording experience, as the budget is fairly limited! You can find out more about my music at http://www.thedoozer.com and if you read 'The Wire' magazine (http://www.thewire.co.uk) you will see that there is a feature on myself in this months March edition.

The arranger will run the recording session and I will perform technical duties (I always engineer my own recordings). We are using all analogue equipment, including a 1" 8 track, so there will be no computers in sight!

We are aiming for the session to take place 26 or 27 March. There is around 15 minutes of material to record and we hope the session will last no longer than 3 hours. It is also possible that we could delay until 2 or 3rd April if there was a quartet available at that time.

So, if you are in an existing quartet or a string player, please get in touch as soon as possible.

Best and thanks for you time,
Simon Loynes

Sunday 31st January Recital Trinity Hall

Really need string quartet for recital. The songs are quite complex arrangements of pop songs, such as 'Life after Love' and 'Call the Shots'.

Should be a lot of fun and minimum commitment (just a few hours before the recital to rehearse.)

Dear All,

Homerton College will be putting on a performance of Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony in late November, and needs as many quality musicians (yourselves) as possible to take part. Anyone who's ever played/listened to the piece will know how exciting it is, and it would be great to have as big an orchestra as possible.
In particular we're looking for:
-Violins
-Basses
-Trombones
-Trumpets
-Horns
-Oboes
-1 bassoon

If you're keen to get involved, send me an email at rfh25.

Much love,

'Alice', a brand new musical to be premiered in Selwyn College in a matter
of weeks, is still seeking a cellist to complete its already lively and
talented orchestra. The project has been tremendous fun so far, and
promises not to dissapoint as the performances approach. The rehearsal
schedule is fairly minimal and those with other commitments should not be
put off as there is a degree of flexibility around rehearsals, and
potentially with performances if absolutely necessary. The run itself will
be from Tues 26th Feb - Sat 1st March, with each performance beginning at
8pm.

If interested, please contact the Musical Director, Ed Bell, on
ejb69@cam.ac.uk, who would also be happy to pass on further details about
the rehearsals and run if necessary.
