English Ayres (Kathryn Hamilton-Hall, Jeni Melia and Christopher Goodwin) tell the story of woman’s journey through life, through songs, ballads and poems, mostly of the Elizabethan age. Many of the texts are by Lady Mary Wroth, a niece of Sir Philip Sidney, and the programme includes songs by Campion, Dowland, Morley and Purcell.
