The Cambridge Taverner Choirs 22nd annual season of concerts in Cambridge continues with two concerts of some of Monteverdis most glorious music the extraordinary Vespers, (on April 13th) and a selection of exquisite cori, balli and balletti from the opera Orfeo and the Books of Madrigals (on July 20th). The choir will be joined by the musicians of the Musical and Amicable Society, a collective of young professional period-instrument specialists (www.amicables.co.uk ). The choir performs in two highly atmospheric Cambridge venues by kind permission of the Master and Fellows of Trinity College, and of the Vicar and Churchwarden of Little St Marys Church. The Cambridge Taverner Choir is one of Britains leading early music chamber choirs and has built a reputation for powerful and expressive performances of Renaissance polyphony. Since reaching the shortlist for the Gramophone Early Music Award in 1994, the choir has received acclaim for its concerts and recordings, and regularly performs to enthusiastic audiences in Cambridge and Winchester. The next concert by the Cambridge Taverner Choir in Cambridge will be on Sunday December 14th. This will be the second in the series A Voyage Round Britten, and will include Brittens A Ceremony of Carols. Further details to be announced.
