"Fleeting Shadows of Delight": Hadyn Songs and Lieder with Suzana Ograjenšek and Matthew Schellhorn

The soprano Suzana Ograjensek and the pianist Matthew Schellhorn return to Cambridge with a programme of Haydn’s works for voice and piano.

Programme includes a selection from both books of his Original Canzonettas and Lieder fuer das Clavier, arias from the opera L’infedelta delusa, piano sonata in A Major, Hob. XVI:26, and piano sonata Hob.XVII:6 (Un piccolo divertimento; Variations).

Fabellae: Italian stories from the early 17th century told through music

Fairy tales, adventure novels, Hollywood movies – stories in their many guises are a part of the fabric of our cultural identity, exerting a formative influence on our thinking and our values. In this concert we will hear sacred and secular stories set by Carissimi, Strozzi, Merula, d’India and others.

From very different corners of Europe (France, Latvia and Germany) the members of Savadi bring a highly unusual and heart-stoppingly beautiful approach to this entrancing music.

The Pembroke College Music Society (PCMS) presents the first of Britten’s Church Parables to celebrate St. Cecilia’s Day and the installment of the new Pembroke College Chamber Organ with a semi-staged performance of this beautiful work based on the Japanese Noh drama “Sumidagawa” set to the backdrop of the mediaeval fenlands.

To be followed by drinks reception in the Thomas Gray Room.

Welcome to the new CamMuso website. We've had a complete overhaul and re-design to make the site quicker and easier to use. The key changes are:

  • RavenRaven authentication. This site now uses Cambridge University's Raven authentication service to allow you to login. This means less passwords to remember, no signing up, and no confirming email addresses. In addition, it helps guarentee the security of the site, and keep the forums spam free.
  • Concert ManagementConcert management. It is now easier than ever to publicise your concert on the site. You just simply login, then click new concert. The form is simpler, and once a concert is added, it can be edited and changed later, without the need to completely remove and replace it.
  • RSSMailing lists and RSS feeds. You can now hear about upcoming concerts in two ways: the usual info@mus.cam.ac.uk mailing list, or, additionally, by RSS feeds. These allow you to keep uptodate with the latest happenings in the music scene.
  • ForumsForums. The forums have been completely re-worked to make them simpler, clearer and totally spam free. You just need to login, then head over to the forums to begin posting!
